Spells, Cauldrons, Flower Remedies & Magick?

By admin Posted in: alternative medicine

Alright, well I’ve said “There is no such thing as Magic, this stuff is ridiculous”… Well, I was driving down the road the other day and I felt compelled to pull into this parking lot. The parking lot I pulled into was actually a wiccan/witch store… and I thought to myself, “This is strange, I’ve never seen or heard of this place before” and so I wandered inside to look… & all the spell books & pendulums & gemstones were so alluring… I didn’t want to leave… and I started looking at the herbs and realized… “this is a lot like alternative medicine” which was my major… And so, basically the question I was wanting to know is… How do you determine that you have power or some kind of ability to be a “witch” or “goddess” or etc?
I’m new to this, and I’m really curious…

First of all, don’t buy into Hollywood. You are not born a witch and you do not wake up with your powers one day.
Being a Witch, or anything else takes dedication and learning.
It is not a “gift”, it is a chosen religion and lifestyle.
If you want to follow a Pagan path, the best thing to do is start reading and spending time with others of the same interest.
Go back to that shop and support it. They will be happy to talk to you.
We have a Temple and Store here in El Paso, AR. and we are always happy to see someone like you start asking questions.
May you be blessed in the search for yourself.

Go back to the “witch store” and buy one of the books, its hard to explain on yahoo, every possible way you could figure that out. Maybe ask one of the workers at the store. Also being a “witch” isn’t something you are born with, you need to practice the powers. Some are born with more powers though… But they still need to practice. Who knows maybe you are.. I would do this to start :) Good Luck, hope I helped.

There IS no power, or any of that stuff. What you experienced was a coincidence. I’ve felt such compulsions to pull over or whatever and nothing surprising happened. I think what you’re experiencing is confirmation bias: remembering the hits and forgetting the misses.

Much of magick has to with nature. It’s not “magic” – it’s just an alternate way of living. I’m not sure if I believe in spells, etc. but it may help to soothe the mind like meditation, so maybe it serves some purpose.

    Seriously?
I mean I can appreciate the role of shamans and the like as the “doctors” of the day; but seriously?

It’s not bad, but certainly odd. Sorry, i realize this answer probably didn’t help.

I’ve been researching a few religious lately but mostly been focusing on wicca. Basically, they believe anyone that has faith in their “god and goddess” can have these extra special “powers”, you speak of. And of, course you would have to be initiated, and dedicate yourself to these “gods” and “goddesses”(most witches worship more than one god/goddess). Then you would start doing rituals and spells, which you usually record a something called a “Book of Shadows”. This is just your own personal spell book. You can look all this up on the internet and there’s videos on youtube where people demonstrate this stuff. Like everyone has already said it is very nature loving and most of the main aspects of this religion are very nature based/oriented.
BTW: You may also realize that not everyone practices wicca the same way.

Not sure where you got the Goddess part, but of you are drawn to that aspect of witchcraft (Natural healing) it probably means that you should look closer into it. Magic is subtle, and usually calls to those who are attune to it. You said you were already majoring in that kind of healing, so branch out and really learn about where this is from as well as what magic really entails. It is not evil, but an actual way of healing with that which nature or the Deities have given us.
