Why Would The Medical Field Want The People To Be Healthy When Drugs+treatment Can Only Be Sold If Were Not?

why would the medical field(pharmacuticals, doctors etc.) want the population to be healthy when they can only sell them drugs and treatments when they are not? We may find some cures but new things pop up, cancer has gotten worse over a 100 year period, killing more people then polio did. There is no rush for cures only a rush for new medicine in order to make money. Did you know the 3rd leading cause of death in america is medical malpractice. Did you know prescription painkillers kill more people each year then heroin+cocaine combined. Who controls the medical industry and how did it start? why have we not tryed to advance in alternative medicine which is natural and came 1st? We are more sick now then we were 50 years ago or even 100. The only difference is we have medicine+treatment to prolong life and make things easier, this doesnt mean health is better. Go ahead medical YA people fire away with your propaganda while the medical industry profits billions upon billions a year on our backs.

My Dad Made Me Cry, I Think He Is Depressed :( :(?

I care so much about my dad, I couldn’t even tell you in words how much I love my parents, I can’t even imagine my life without them, it doesn’t seem possible. He is really depressed. He works 7 days a week, 6am-6pm daily, he sleeps all day, wakes up, eats, goes back to work for the night and its replay daily.
He is heavy smoking on Cuban cigars, cigarettes, tobacco roll ups, weed and takes cocaine now and then.
I went for a walk with him and my dogs the other day and I said to him that I would be the happiest girl in the world if he stopped smoking, I would be so ecstatic, he said not right now he needs them. He drinks a lot to. I literally begged him to stop smoking anything.
Yesterday I said to him, “Dad, please stop smoking you will end up with lung cancer if you don’t” and he said to me “this world is craap, I hate it, I hope I die, I really hope I do. this world is not worth living in”
It made me cry and it just made my heart sink deep and I just cried for ages. It really hurt me.
I hate hearing my parents being sad it just breaks my heart. He just turned 40 the other day. His health is bad enough the doctor said. He eats so much sweet stuff, he goes to the store and buys like 10 cream cakes daily, he eats KFC everyday, or Chinese food ordered in at least 4 days out of the week. His stressing me out so much.
Do you think he needs to see a therapist. My mom stresses him out so much she is always nagging at him and his severely depressed. :(

Is There A Correlation Between Atheism And Intelligence Or Wealth?

Interesting article not attacking Religions, just going by the numbers….i believe in something greater than myself, but can think for myself also.
Atheists are heavily concentrated in economically developed countries, particularly the social democracies of Europe. In underdeveloped countries, there are virtually no atheists. Atheism is thus a peculiarly modern phenomenon. Why do modern conditions produce atheism?
First, as to the distribution of atheism in the world, a clear pattern can be discerned. In sub-Saharan Africa there is almost no atheism (Zuckerman, 2007). Belief in God declines in more developed countries and is concentrated in Europe in countries such as Sweden (64% nonbelievers), Denmark (48%), France (44%) and Germany (42%). In contrast, the incidence of atheism in most sub-Saharan countries is below 1%.
The question of why economically developed countries turn to atheism has been batted around by anthropologists for about eighty years. Anthropologist James Fraser proposed that scientific prediction and control of nature supplants religion as a means of controlling uncertainty in our lives. This hunch is supported by data showing that the more educated countries have higher levels of non belief and there are strong correlations between atheism and intelligence (see my earlier post on this).
Atheists are more likely to be college-educated people who live in cities and they are highly concentrated in the social democracies of Europe. Atheism thus blossoms amid affluence where most people feel economically secure. But why?
It seems that people turn to religion as a salve for the difficulties and uncertainties of their lives. In social democracies, there is less fear and uncertainty about the future because social welfare programs provide a safety net and better health care means that fewer people can expect to die young. People who are less vulnerable to the hostile forces of nature feel more in control of their lives and less in need of religion.
In addition to being the opium of the people (as Karl Marx contemptuously phrased it), religion may also promote fertility, particularly by promoting marriage, according to copious data reviewed by Sanderson (2008). Large families are preferred in agricultural countries as a source of free labor. In developed “atheist” countries, women have exceptionally small families and do not need religion helping them to raise large families.
Even the psychological functions of religion face stiff competition today. In modern societies, when people experience psychological difficulties they turn to their doctor, psychologist, or psychiatrist. They want a scientific fix and prefer the real psychotropic medicines dished out by physicians to the metaphorical opiates offered by religion.
Moreover, sport psychologists find that sports spectatorship provides much the same kind of social, and spiritual, benefits as people obtain from church membership. In a previous post, I made the case that sports is replacing religion. Precisely the same argument can be made for other forms of entertainment with which spectators become deeply involved. Indeed, religion is striking back by trying to compete in popular media, such as televangelism and Christian rock and by hosting live secular entertainment in church.
The reasons that churches lose ground in developed countries can be summarized in market terms. First, with better science, and with government safety nets, and smaller families, there is less fear and uncertainty in people’s daily lives and hence less of a market for religion. At the same time many alternative products are being offered, such as psychotropic medicines and electronic entertainment that have fewer strings attached and that do not require slavish conformity to unscientific beliefs.

Atheists What Is Your Intellectual Human Knowledge Of Bodhidharma?

Bodhidharma the legend who came to china teaching martial arts and dhyan budhism,he was a perfect physician and his knowledge in ayurvedic treatment was well known,in one account it states that damo went to china to cure chickenpox viruses and block its entrance to bharatham. His death is still a dispute thing, some account states that, when damo declared to go back to india the chinese of that village poisoned him through his food. The most wondering thing damo knew about this poisoning he didnt utter a word about it but he blessed people of that village for a prosperous life..still his birth and origin is a controversial thing, some saying he was a persian, another account he was a brahmin guru from south india, another he was a son of pallava king…stories whatever, he was a real legend.

Travel Medical Insurance For Visiting Germany?

I am a US Green Card Holder with Chinese citizenship! I don’t have a health insurance plan.
Now I am planning to visit Germany for about 10 days, one of the documents required is travel insurance.
“confirmation letter from your health insurance stating coverage for medical emergency, hospitalization and repatriation with a minimum of  30,000 Euros (equiv. US$ 50,000) for trips outside the US and one copy thereof”
Anyone have good suggestions on some health insurance companies, it would be good if it’s paid day by day!

Anybody Agree That The Federal Budget Could Be Balanced With These Cuts?

Annual Federal Revenue: Roughly 2.6 trillion
Annual Federal Budget: Roughly 3.45 trillion
At first glance the military absorbs 20 percent of the US governments annual budget. However, when percentage of discretionary spending allotted to the military (roughly 58%) is taken into account the figure is upwards of 30 percent of the annual budget. This is what I like to call the “Department of Offense ” spending (Iraq, Afghanistan, and everywhere else we like to rub our noses). Removing military discretionary spending from our agenda would save roughly 382 billion dollars on annual federal budget.
-382 billion
The military is also allotted roughly 707 billion dollars a year in “overseas contingency operations.” the wars in iraq and afghanistan were only fractionally as costly as these “overseas contingency operations.” A perfect example of this type of unnecessary spending is the new military base in northern australia that obama has approved. Not only is this a huge expense but it is only serving to stir up a chinese hornets nest. Again, this aggression is proving too costly for the united states. Cut 50 percent of this spending.
This leaves nearly 700 billion dollars in defense money. more than enough to fund homeland security, veterans affairs and non-mongering operations world wide.
-353 billion
I’m not going to pretend to be an expert on medicare and medicaid. However, studies have been done that indicate smoking is responsible for 10 to 11 percent of medicaid, medicare costs in the united states. smoke cigarettes? fine, but your your not eligible for government funded health care regarding the effects of smoking.
+80 billion
Corporate tax increase. 67 percent of americans want a substantial tax increase on corporations. a 15 percent increase would generate roughly 30 billion dollars in revenue annually.
+30 billion
That leaves us with annual expenses at 2.60 trillion dollars. Im aware of how drastic of a change in military spending this is. however, the pentagons current stance shares this idea that they are spending too much: http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/01/2…
Here are some additional military budget reduction ideas referenced from Edward A Aguilar, Executive Director of Project for Nuclear Awareness:
¶Don’t build a new fleet of nuclear submarines. Savings: $125 billion.
¶Don’t overhaul old nuclear weapons; go below 1,000 in total. Savings: $65 billion to $80 billion.
¶Reduce ballistic missile submarines and cut ICBMs to 300. Savings: $79 billion to $100 billion, according to Senator Tom Coburn, Republican of Oklahoma.
¶Cut bases not only in Europe but also in Japan, as recommended by Ambassador Thomas Graham Jr., former chief nuclear negotiator. But don’t cut troops — bring them home to American bases, boosting local economies, and train them for asymmetrical warfare.
¶Cut waste and redundancy. Senator Coburn has noted that the Government Accountability Office, the Defense Department’s inspector general and others have identified about $50 billion in waste, abuse and fraud in the budget
Anyways, tell me why I’m wrong…

Getting A Fit And Nicely Toned Body In Under 2 Months??? (someone Clear My Doubts)?

Well, a few months ago, I began feeling an urge to get a really nice, toned body for myself for once. No surprise, any guy wants it….
Well, I’ve always wanted it, but nothing ever before, pushed me so far as to get myself into shape by doing 50 situps, 100, 200, and now up to 250 a day, with some weights. I also do pushups, and all the basic stuff….
One day, I bumped into one of Mike Chang’s free videos, which didn’t teach me much, only to get told that a person could get a toned body in less than 2 months…. there’s also a youtube channel that posts Mike Chang’s 5-minute-a-day workouts that could help in getting “that” body. Then again, I thought to myself…. How is that possible? Take Michael Phelps for an example… he has been swimming for so many years, so many hours a day, 7 days a week, training himself beyond the limits of an average human, and he “barely” has it (if you know what i mean)…
Professional athletes have been playing sports and doing hardcore training every day…
So, is it REALLY possible to get that *uhm..* body in less than 2 months?
P.s: I’m really busy, having a college life with really tight schedules to follow and have plenty of assignments to catch up on… but I think Mike Chang’s 5-minutes-a-day workouts aren’t enough…
FYI I’m not trying to lose weight… I’m a relatively thin and lanky guy trying to put on some muscle….
Also, how can I tell if I’m making progress?
Sorry if you guys have to read through a hassling post such as this one >.<
So…
Bottom line is…
-Is it REALLY possible to get that body in less than two months? (Professional athletes take YEARS)
-I consume health foods, organic veggies, whole plates of them at night with enough meat and carbs. Am I doing it right?
-I am Chinese by the way. Does that mean I'll never get that kind of ripped body?

What To Do About Severe Exhaustion?

I’m on a competitive cheer squad and in order to get ready for our first competition we’ve had practice twice a day, everyday from last Sunday to this Saturday. Each practice is mandatory and I’m absolutely exhausted. (I suffer from adrenal fatigue, so my body can’t deal with the added stress of an extra 25 hours on top of studying for diplomas.)
Is there anything I can take that will get through the rest of the week? I don’t think I’ll last much longer; I’m exhausted, I feel sick and I’m probably coming down with something. I have to go to these practices as otherwise I’ll be taken off of point flier in each stunt and won’t be competing on Sunday.
I’m open to all suggestions, including alternative medicine such as homeopathics, etc.
Thanks,
Bailey.
