“Parents of children poisoned by lead in eastern China are demanding answers and compensation from the government after the country’s latest incident of heavy metal pollution made more than 200 sick.
“Children are precious to us. You tell me what I can do. I don’t have many requests. The government has to stand up and give the children some answers and help,” said 48-year-old Li Xiaoai, grandmother of three-year-old Jiang Shuangchao.
She said her granddaughter was found to have 245 micrograms of lead per liter of blood, and displayed symptoms of lead poisoning such as lack of appetite and fatigue.
Levels of more than 100 micrograms of lead per liter of blood are considered to be harmful and residents said most of the children in the community tested above those levels.
China set up a compensation fund for children whose health was seriously damaged, but the children of many of the parents who allied with parent activist Zhao Lianhai were not eligible for compensation.
They said their families were just given 400 yuan ($60) and a box of apples and bananas by the local government when the lead poisoning cases first came to light last month.”
I wonder if the same value is placed on CCP-loyalists’ children living in big cities.

You have ask one of the best questions I have read in the China section. It is not a good question because you ask about this one time but because the rulers of China have treated the children of China as worthless for years. This is not the first, second, third or I do not know how many times Chinese children have been given large doses of heavy metals from one industry or another. China is not a unique nation in that they are the only nation with heavy metal pollutions. All of the EU, the US and just about every nation you can think of makes batteries. The difference is the rulers of China put more importance on these plants making money than they do on the Chinese children that they are suppose to be in charge of. Glass in the tooth paste, malimine in the children milk, lead in the children play areas, in the children drinking water. Maybe not every month but every year it is in the news that the rulers of China let another company put something deadly in the children food, water or where they play. This does not happen in ANY other nation and the rulers brag about the growth in education, technology and all the other comparable things they use to the free nations. The difference is the free nations protect their children! They do not tolerate the poisoning of the children of their nations one time much less every year. The rulers of China can not fabricate a excuse for the actions they take in regards to how they care for the people of China. No other government in the world shows so little care for their children. There is a question here in answers by a girl who says she is Chinese asking about the Congressman (lady) in the US who was shot with a firearm. This action (the continued irresponsibility of the Chinese rulers for the welfare of the Chinese children) is a prime example of why the Chinese government is scared to death of the people of China having any way to force these rulers to be held accountable for their actions against the people of China. Any government in the world that allowed what the rulers of China allow would be tried and sentenced to jail or to death. The rulers put the parents in jail when they make noise because they know other parents will listen and do anything they can to protect their children. To a parent there is no comparision between the rulers and their child, the child is the most important part of life.
You are underestimating the brain size of the CPC-PRC. Communist Party of China believes in harmony. They believe China has too many lives to spare. One box of fruits is enough to clean the heavy leads out of the body system and sometimes practicing chi gong helps, and is very good to the body. An apple a day, keeps the doctor away. So it also keeps the children and parents from bothering the government officials too. lol

If the children were girls then yes. That is how much the Chinese government believes that female children are worth ($60.00 and a box of apples and bananas).
It is a shame….but think about it……..somewhere in the world – preferably the US…..someone is buying a pet dog…..depending on what breed it is and if it is a pure bred….the dog may cost into the upper hundreds or over a couple thousands of dollars; plus shots, license, food and housing and maintenance…..shame on the Chinese government —- phewy on them — $60 dollars and apples and bananas…….That is just as bad and the coastal black African tribe leaders sold off their tribe members for trinkets and alcohol — not knowing that his people were going to be slaves……
