Just a starter, I also put this question in the Alternative Medicine section. I REALLY need answers.
Okay so I’m working on a story where a girl is trying to find the Coca-Cola formula and along the way, she finds out that her parents were trying to create a drug (either a cure for cancer or a cure for aids) and the only reason they had her was so they could give her either cancer or aids (like I said i’m trying to figure it out. I know they could inject her with aids but I don’t know how they could give her cancer). but anyway, what could be in the drug? If it was a cure for cancer, what would be in it (it’s a pill)? and if it were a cure for aids, what would be in it?
Also, how could they actually give her cancer? and like i said they’d be giving it to a baby.

Ionizing radiation is a proven carcinogen (cancer causing agent) which they could expose her to. Cancer can develop in as little as a few years after high levels of this type of exposure. It is the type of radiation given off in huge harmful quantities after the explosion of an atomic bomb, and small safe quantities by X-Ray machines- just to give you and idea of what I am talking about.
For a cancer cure: it could be a virus her parents engineered, possibly by modifying a strain of an already existing virus, that targets and destroys the malignant cells while leaving healthy ones intact.
As for an aids cure: as the HIV virus is constantly mutating and creating various strains, it would be near implausible that they could create something that could destroy the virus itself. Instead, the pill would have to contain some kind of super-powered immunostimulant they create, which would boost and keep the immune system at a healthy rate. In this way the HIV virus would still be hidden within the tissues of the body, but the effects would be effectively nullified.
