Well, a few months ago, I began feeling an urge to get a really nice, toned body for myself for once. No surprise, any guy wants it….
Well, I’ve always wanted it, but nothing ever before, pushed me so far as to get myself into shape by doing 50 situps, 100, 200, and now up to 250 a day, with some weights. I also do pushups, and all the basic stuff….
One day, I bumped into one of Mike Chang’s free videos, which didn’t teach me much, only to get told that a person could get a toned body in less than 2 months…. there’s also a youtube channel that posts Mike Chang’s 5-minute-a-day workouts that could help in getting “that” body. Then again, I thought to myself…. How is that possible? Take Michael Phelps for an example… he has been swimming for so many years, so many hours a day, 7 days a week, training himself beyond the limits of an average human, and he “barely” has it (if you know what i mean)…
Professional athletes have been playing sports and doing hardcore training every day…
So, is it REALLY possible to get that *uhm..* body in less than 2 months?
P.s: I’m really busy, having a college life with really tight schedules to follow and have plenty of assignments to catch up on… but I think Mike Chang’s 5-minutes-a-day workouts aren’t enough…
FYI I’m not trying to lose weight… I’m a relatively thin and lanky guy trying to put on some muscle….
Also, how can I tell if I’m making progress?
Sorry if you guys have to read through a hassling post such as this one >.<
So…
Bottom line is…
-Is it REALLY possible to get that body in less than two months? (Professional athletes take YEARS)
-I consume health foods, organic veggies, whole plates of them at night with enough meat and carbs. Am I doing it right?
-I am Chinese by the way. Does that mean I'll never get that kind of ripped body?

i’ve seen mike chang’s videos, they’re nothing special, and he’s only gaining a profit off of your dollar. a workout of 5 minutes a day won’t do anything, and is just a waste of time, and you won’t see any progress in 2 months. i recommend disregarding anything he says.
there is also no such thing as a toned body. what people mean by toned is a lack of fat surrounding their muscles. so i’m assuming your goal is to gain muscle and keep a low body fat percentage.
here is the break down of what you should do to gain muscle:
Exercises:
there are some things you should do, and some things you shouldn’t. to gain muscle, you need to lift heavy weights. this doesn’t mean curling 50lbs dumbbells, doing sit-ups, etc. those kind of isolation exercises aren’t effective when it comes to gaining muscle.
these are the following exercises you should do to gain muscle:
squats – the single best exercise you can do the the best one for building muscle
deadlifts – same as squats
bench press
overhead press
barbell rows
cleans
chin-ups
all the exercises I listed above are called compound lifts, and allow you to lift heavy weights, which builds muscle faster than any number of curls or sit-ups. as your maximum lifts increase for each of the exercises above, you’ll gain more muscle and become stronger.
The thing with compound lifts is they involve the use of 2 or more joints, which is the basic of all body mechanics. You’re body moves as one when doing a task, so it makes no sense to isolate a certain body part to train it. Example: there is a exercise called leg extension, which works the quadriceps by isolating it from the hamstrings, but there is no actual movement you do in your every day life that doesn’t use both parts of the leg muscle, so don’t isolate a body part to train it (ahem curls).
Diet:
easily the most important part of gaining muscle, and it`s simpler than you may think. eat a minimum of 3000 calories a day, and eat your bodyweight in grams of protein each day.
some good food to eat is tuna, eggs, salmon, and chicken. this is really important, so make sure you eat at least 3000 calories a day, and your bodyweight in grams of protein each day.
and to answer your other questions
1. no, it will take much longer than 2 months. you won`t even see any progress at that point.
2. your diet – you are doing it kind of right. just keep your protein and calories up.
3. yes, you can can ripped. it may take longer if you are an ectomorph, but it`s still possible. you`ll just have to eat more. i would personally eat around 5000 calories at some points to try to gain weight.
some things you should know:
1. you can`t gain muscle and lose fat at the same time. think about it; gaining muscle requires a caloric surplus, while losing fat requires a caloric deficit. first gain muscle and fat, then lose the fat once you`re satisfied with your progress.
2. arnold schwarzenegger was a powerlifter before he was a bodybuilder (http://muscleandbrawn.com/the-real-arnol… that means he did the exact same exercises that I posted above before he started doing curls and other isolation exercises. for now, stick to the compound lifts.
3. here is a site with good routines for you to do. i strongly recommend starting strength.http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/F…
message me if you have any more questions, and good luck.
I guess your looking to build muscle mass instead of “toning”.
Pushups, sit ups ect will not build muscle mass. But it will increase your strength, endurance and overall fitness.
You will have to do weights to build mass and concentrate on each muscle group individulay, as well as giving the muscles proper rest periods.
There is lots of info on the net to guide you
