MRI stands for magnetic resonance imaging. An MRI scan involves no radiation exposure like an x-ray or CT and therefore there is essentially no risk in undertaking the scan. The only times MRI is avoided is when you have metal or a pacemaker in your body. An MRI will be very useful to your doctor to identify exactly where the pain is originating and therefore to suggest other ways to treat it. You lie on a small bed and the scan machine circles around you. It can be quite noisy but lasts only a few minutes.
Joint injections for frozen shoulder are extremely effective. I would reassure you that they are not much more painful than simply having blood taken and the risk of them is very low. The only significant risk being infection and bleeding, both of which occur very rarely.
I’d seriously consider going ahead with the injection as it may completely cure your symptoms. Sometimes further injections are needed but if it doesn’t work the first time it won’t be recommended again. Physio is also a very good idea – so keep up with this or get a referral if you have not already.
    Hope this helps!

Yoga is very effective for frozen shoulder. The following yogic tecniques are recommended for frozen shoulder: Mushtika Bandhana, Manibandha Naman, Manibandha Chakra, Kehuni Naman, Skandha Chakra, Greeva Sanchalana and Makarasana.

physical therapy is probably the best program, exercise to tolerance for range of motion. A friend had that problem, and her husband hooked up a pulley in the ceiling, so she could move one arm with the other. Warmth might help relax the area somewhat.

    Dear Sash,
Don’t go for a steroid injection. It will damage the life of the ligaments of the joint. Better you consult Dr A P Nayak through his email ID drapnayak@gmail.com. Go through his website http://www.astangayurveda.com. He will help you.
    Good luck.
