Airforce And Medical School Concerning About Traveling! Please Help! Easy Points!?

By admin Posted in: alternative medicine

Hi!
Please help me. I want to join the airforce when I enter medical school. At first, I want to take a trip to Japan before ( and following years so I can get use to the place before I actually move there and practice medicine there). A better alternative is to go to the military and to Japan to practice medicine so I won’t have to worry about cost, traveling plans, and taking too much time off of work. Also, I need my vacation days for medical school interviews.
My question is, when I get into medical school and apply for the airforce, how long do I have to wait to travel? Can I go anytime and right away? Do I have to wait until I am done with medical school???
Thank you!!!

You don’t get your say in where you go. You fill out a dream sheet and thats about it. If you get selected, good for you. If not, keep trying. Just because you join the military doesn’t mean your going to travel to where you want to. I joined the Air Force thinking I was going to travel and all I’ve seen is New Jersey, Iraq and Korea.
Edit – Medical personeel are needed at all bases. You could end up in Thule, Greenland for a bit. Sure you stand a good chance of going to Japan at some point in your career, but it may not be anytime soon. Unless you travel there on your own dime (of course, there is Space A travel too, which are free flights).

This sounds so much like what you really want is a free ride and the cherry assignments from the AF. We don’t work that way. We also probably have a total of five doctors stationed in Japan. We aren’t going to give that assignment to a brand new doctor. If you joined the AF as a doctor, you would likely be assigned to a stateside base where you could do your internship in a large hospital under the supervision of a large staff.

When you sign up for the Air Force and medical school, you probably won’t be going to Japan right away So i am not sure what your focus is on Japan. Most time in Medical school will actually be in the classroom and you will also get some practice experience with patients. Most likely, you will be sent to a large Air Force Hospital that includes a teaching staff. If you want to learn eastern medicine then go to China. They practice both eastern and western medicine. Japan health care system has become high tech. Plastic surgery and legs extension{ procedures to make you taller] are the number one surgeries. On average there 20 rooms filled to capacity every day of people who want plastic surgery.
